Cocktail Hour: The Shawkemo

The Shawkemo — a refreshing and addictive citrus ginger and mint vodka cocktail…. kicked up with a Prosecco floater!

What better way to usher in The Buggy Blog Cocktail Hour series than with a special cocktail made for a very special birthday girl – I am talking about the one and only Miss Allie E!
At the beach we brainstormed cocktail ideas. We were all in agreement- absolutely no tequila (we saved that for The Box!), nothing too sweet, pink, and the drink to be named later should feature citrus and bubbly!
Voila, a star was born and aptly named the Shawkemo after the road Allie’s family lives on. The as pretty to look at as it is to drink cocktail was a huge success. I am happy to report The Shawkemo is the “new” official cocktail of Allie’s summer house.

The Shawkemo Cocktail Ingredients
2 parts vodka
1 part lime juice
3/4 part ginger simple syrup
1 part grapefruit juice
prosecco floater
6 mint leaves per glass
2 thin slices of lime per glass

Muddle mint leaf and lime in a chilled old fashioned glass. Fill with ice. Add lime juice, grapefruit juice, ginger simple syrup, vodka. Stir. Top off with Prosecco.

Ginger Simple Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
5 3 inch pieces long and 1/4 inch thick fresh ginger
Place ingredients in pan and bring to a boil. After 3 minutes, shut off heat. Let cool. Will keep refrigerated for 1 month and then some!

Just look at that beauteous Prosecco floater!!!

Our Monogrammed Old Fashioned Glasses at Buggy Designs showcased the Shawkemo perfectly.
The lovely birthday girl on the left and our other bestie Kitty Kat in the middle. No joke, we were known as AllieKatBug growing up. Love these two so much!
