A rare occurrence happened last weekend- I actually took some time off from work!!! Yup- a playing hooky weekend that is still eliciting a sly smile. The destination was New York City and a quick jaunt to Fire Island with two of my best friends from boarding school. Pics aren’t as detailed as usual, the hazards of playing hooky!
Friday night was spent in NYC celebrating Hannah’s birthday with a surprise party. Since Hannah didn’t think Abby and I were going to be in town we hadn’t planned anything together for the weekend. Last minute plans formed and Abby and I joined Hannah and her family on Fire Island late Saturday! We took a train from Manhattan to Bay Shore and then a ferry to Fire Island and before we knew it we were sitting outside having dinner by the beach! The best kind of last minute plans!
How beautiful is this seashell house?
Before catching the ferry home, we went to the Clam Jam for a good deal on oysters. We ordered 3 dozen Oysters, a dozen Oysters Rockefeller and a few orders of fish tacos.
There is something so nostalgic about loading up a wagon instead of a car to head off island, don’tchya think?! I could get used to the no cars life on Fire Island!
Abby makes friends wherever she goes — dogs on the ferry included 🙂
Back to New York City we went– old mixed tapes (thanks to Hannah) from high school in tow! We ended Sunday night with a cookout on a friend’s rooftop in Manhattan with plenty of Rose and laughs. The perfect way to chase Sunday night blues.
Celebrating Hannah’s birthday at McKittrick!!!!!
